Non Resident Tax Reporting
For nonresidents who own rental properties located in Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requires that agents (e.g. property managers) who collect rental income from tenants on behalf of owners are responsible for withholding and remitting tax owing on the rental income to CRA. Agents must also report the income and withholding tax using the appropriate documentation format prescribed by CRA.
